An Open Letter to a killer cop

To: Stephen Emery, city employee
From: Richard G. Eramian, city taxpayer

Sir, Please forgive this intrusion. As a defender of human rights whom
you are being paid to serve, I must tell you that killing a human being
for a trivial reason is murder, not only for the killer but also for
everyone who consents to that killing. Jumping out in front of a moving
car and shooting the driver is not an act of self-defense; it is an act
murder. Killing a defenseless human being who has not harmed anyone is
also an act of cowardice and pure evil. Your victim, Mr. Suazo, was
peacefully minding his own business and not bothering anyone when he was
assaulted by an armed gang barking and pointing guns at him. Under those
circumstances, it is perfectly normal and predictable behavior for any
human being to flee. Anyone who is unaware of that fact is either as
dumb as a bucket of rocks or not human. The policy of Comply or Die is a
Totalitarian policy and those who support that policy are not heroes.
They are fascist thugs with a depraved indifference to human life.

Everyone, including yourself, has loved ones, friends, and associates
who have violated drug laws and numerous other unjust laws that violate
basic human rights. How many of them have you ever pointed a gun at and
ordered them to Obey or Die? Would you ever pull that Gestapo crap on a
city councilor or anyone of their loved ones? How many members of the
ruling class and poliiticly connected have you ever killed or
threatened to kill for violating some bullcrap law which should never
have been a law in the first place? The hypocrisy of all those like
yourself who support this police-state injustice stinks.

By the way, according to the supreme law of the land (the Constitution),
adult human beings who refuse to be told what they may eat, drink,
smoke, or otherwise ingest are not criminals anymore than those who
refuse to be told what they may read, write, think, or believe. Human
beings who exercise their natural rights to Life, Liberty, and the
Pursuit of Happiness are not criminals.

For your information, the individuals who founded this country were
smugglers, gun owners, and tax resistors. Those defenders of human
rights did not recognize the authority of any government to interfere
with honest trade, peaceful behavior, or the right to bear arms.
Ultimately, they refused to be stopped and searched for guns and
contraband. These facts are the origin of the Second and Fourth
Amendments, the heart and soul of this Republic. Thus, drug fighters,
gun grabbers, and other illegalizers are traitors in addition to being
murderers and hypocrites.

After several decades of waging illegalization wars against the American
people, the law makers and their police have succeeded in transforming
the former land-of-the-free into the world's leading police-prison State
with the world's largest prison population and the world's highest rate
of incarceration. Perhaps you will agree that only an authoritarian thug
and traitor to the Republic could be proud of that success.

I hope that this straight talk will cause you to do some serious
thinking. You need to know that out of all the people in Lynn who
advocate or otherwise support these police-state policies, not one of
them has been willing to do so in any arena where they can be
challenged. Why? Because these policies are so outrageous and immoral,
no one with even a tiny speck of human decency will defend them. The
others either lack integrity or fear the light.

It is also my hope that the city councilors and other concerned
citizens will consider the current policies of mass incarceration,
militarization of the police, police brutality, injustice, and the
destruction of freedom, and ask themselves if they want to continue
going in that direction.
